Factor this expression completely a^3^y+1

OpenStudy (turingtest):

is that\[\large a^{3^y}+1\]?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Yes

OpenStudy (turingtest):

you sure the 'y' is the exponent of 3? i could understand factoring\[a^{3y}+1\]or\[{a^y}^3+1\]but not what you have written

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Oh no, both 3 and y are exponents of y, but I thought if I had written it as a^3y that it would be assumed that y was not an exponent
