Can someone please me?
is my answer choice correct? if not, can someone help explain why it's incorrect and solve it step by step?
it looks like its incorrect. the first step is to set the equations equal to each other, can u do this?
no can you please help me?
I can ^_^ alright, so what are the two equations given?
yes the two were y= -7/2x + 3/2 and y= 1/4x-9/4
great, so we need to set the equations equal to each other. we do this becuase on the graph they intersect at the same y value. y= -7/2x + 3/2 y= 1/4x-9/4 becomes y= -7/2x + 3/2 1/4x-9/4 = y 1/4x-9/4 = y = y= -7/2x + 3/2 1/4x-9/4 = -7/2x + 3/2 make sense?
yes, so then we solve the equation?
@DemolisionWolf
yep, exactly solve it by getting all the x terms on the same side alone
ok
um I'm not sure if this answer is correct, but I got 1.304... sorry if it's wrong I suck at math :'(
@DemolisionWolf
1/4x-9/4 = -7/2x + 3/2 so add 7/2x to both sides, what do you get?
umm I'm really lost and I got the same answer.... can you please show me?
i had 23/8x -9/4= 3/2
1/4x-9/4 = -7/2x + 3/2 1/4x-9/4 +7/2 x = -7/2x + 3/2 +7/2x 1/4x-9/4 +7/2x = + 3/2 now combine like terms 7/2 x is like 14/4x now the denominators are the same for both x terms, so we can just add them 1/4x + 14/4x = 15/4x 1/4x-9/4 +7/2x = 3/2 then becomes 15/4x -9/4 = 3/2 now, add 9/4 to both sides (i'm sorry, but I have to log off now, good job today! and good luck!
ok bye
@iambatman, do you mind helping me?
@mathstudent55, can someone please help me?
@myko, please help me ;'(
continuing addin 9/4 bouth sides: 15/4x=3/2+9/4 15/4x=(6+9)/4 15x=15 x=1
now find y
ok, thank you for helping me correctly find x
ok for y i got -2, OMG now i get it *face palm* that wasn't really hard. :D thank you soo much @DemolisionWolf and @myko :)
