How would I find one side of a rectangle when I have the area?

If you have the length or width, it's really easy.

You could solve for width, but the variable for length would be part of it.  You can't solve it otherwise.

If area is 1000, (A), width is w, and length is l:

w = 1000/l
l = 1000/w

If we know neigher the length nor the width, then larryboxaplenty's response was the best one:

If area is 1000, (that is, A=1000) width is w, and length is l:

w = 1000/l   or 
l = 1000/w
