He kept the syrup in two flasks, one with broken neck and other with swan neck.
He took the swan neck flask so that he could prove that only contact with air doesn't allows the growth of microorganisms.
He found that microorganisms developed in the flasks with open neck and didnt developed in the flasks with swan neck which trapped the germ laden dust particles.
