Help!!! What should be measured to calculate the average rate at which water flows into soil? The depth to which water enters the soil and the time it takes the water to reach that depth The depth to which water enters the soil and the total volume of water that reaches that depth The number of liters of water that enter the soil and the volume of water that reaches that depth The total number of liters of water in the soil and the time it takes the water to reach that depth

The "average rate at which water flows into soil" has the units\[\frac{ volume~of~water }{ time}\] so any correct answer MUST involve these units of a rate of change. Since the first two answers do not involve volume of the water, eliminate them. You'll need to decide for yourself which of the two remaining answers is the more logical.
