The correct answer is the first one. First of all, in probability, A 'and' B implies multiplication of A and B, which rules out the 2nd and 4th answers. Independent events are when one event's probability does not change with the other. In this case, when one of them wins, it doesn't affect the other's probability of winning. Therefore, these are independent events, which rules out 3 and 5, leaving 1 as the only possible answer.
