an item is regularly priced at $70. ivan brought it at a discount of 40% off the regular price. how much did he pay?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

$42

OpenStudy (nyasia):

Thank you

OpenStudy (anonymous):

No problem

OpenStudy (anonymous):

need to know how to do it?

OpenStudy (nyasia):

yes, how did you calculate that ?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

here's a tip for these types of problem. if you know that the discount if 40% off than there is still a 60% that you have to pay. do the total amount times the percent you still have to pay. that's 70 X .6 = 42

OpenStudy (anonymous):

you change 40% to ".4" and multiply that by the price 70 x .4 = 28 and 70 - 28 = 42, you can also do it the way @Little-Ho did

it was easier than i thought 😂
