WWI was caused by the assassination of Archduke Franz Ferdinand of Austria in Serbia, which caused Austria to demand things from Serbia threatening them with invading. The demands were too much for Serbia, but Russia sided with Serbia, Germany sided with Austria, etc, etc... After WWI was over, the Germans were forced to sign the Treaty of Versailles, and were pointed out as the guilty ones in WWI even though they didn't technically started it. The Germans, after Hitler rose to power, blamed the minority, the Jews, for losing the war, and this WWII started... The period between WWI and WWII was similar to a time out, since WWI was the cause of WWII.
