Off the top of my head, for you to reference.

Civil War, both sided sought support from European nations.

Mexican War, expansion of America Texas was a nation of its own. California acquired!

Of course Spanish American. We didn't settle the entire 48 states during this time. Relationship with England.

We hadn't arrived on the global stage yet. Not until WWII! So we were still in our Infancy!

The Civil War was over in 1864, so yeah it wouldn't be usable, but the relationship from that war would be. Starting point! Mexican War is in this time. Manifest Destiny, look it up!
