OpenStudy (rane):

how does the galvanometer respond when the switch in the circuit is opened in a primary coil

OpenStudy (rane):

@sidsiddhartha

OpenStudy (sidsiddhartha):

when the switch was closed there were some associated magnetic field now if u opened the switch then this magnetic field will be vanished and so as the magnetic field is vanished the pointer will move to the opposite direction due to a opposite torque

OpenStudy (sidsiddhartha):

this torque is known as deflection torque

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@sidsiddhartha do we directly talk about magnetic field??

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Its better to say that when current flows through a circuit, the connected galvanometer affected by this current, and by this current deflection produced in the galvanometer...... due to interaction of current carrying coil ( present in the galvanometer) and magnetic field ( applied in the galvanometer) .. @sidsiddhartha

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Magnetic field apply the force on current carrying coil(present in the galvanometer), that causes the deflection of the needle of galvanometer.

OpenStudy (rane):

thanks both of u i understood the main principles

OpenStudy (sidsiddhartha):

yeah and this torque is directly prop to the current\[T \infty I\]

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yup thats it...
