Alcoholism leads to which of the following a)Amnesia b)Lung Damage c)Cancer d)None

@deepika.comet how will alcoholism lead lung damage?
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Alcoholic_lung_disease THIS GIVES YOU AN ANSWER
@deepika.comet why not amnesia ?
It can also be amnesia but first attacked part in the body is lung then it reaches to brain as amnesia is caused to brain if im not wrong.
@deepika.comet if you will clearly read the first lines you will have a clear picture that alcohol consumption does not have a direct effect on lungs. It just increases the chances of (risk of) developing ARDS than non alcoholics
Your link itself says " The term 'alcoholic lung disease' is not a generally accepted medical diagnosis, and "the association between alcohol abuse and acute lung injury remains largely unrecognized, even by lung researchers"."
but since chilhood i learnt that lung gets affected first my friend
Well, as much i knw lungs get affected by smoking rather than alcohol consumption dear. I am sure that alcohol affects liver (place where alcohols metabolism takes place) and causes liver cirrhosis
But since there is no option given for liver......i am confused
oh.....!
when alcohol is consumed a part of it mixes with the blood and reaches the lungs and causes lung disorders - this is what i know.
where did u find this question?
I have this in my book :)
Anyways thnx for bothering !
ok what finally you decide the answer is?
I will definitely go with amnesia
why cant it be D because liver is not mentioned
Because dear amnesia is also an immediade and short term effect of alcohol consumption
ok hope so i could do something.
You must have heard about Blackouts..!!! These are a form of Drug related amnesia
yeah
Sure! Once again thnx for being part of this convo
oh welcome but i was not so helpful for your question. bye. ALL THE BEST.
@Abhisar, I'm jumping in on this old question. This is a poorly worded question. It can lead to all but the "none" option. Amnesia occurs, heck you should see a MRI of an alcoholic's brain vs. a normal person's brain. Sometimes, depending on how long you have been an alcoholic, there is ~20% loss of brain mass. Cancer because any prolonged chronic inflammation drastically increases risk of cancer. This can be due to the cell death in the throat and stomach tissues. And finally, lungs can get hit hard due to breathing in vomit etc.
@mrdoldum what do you think should be the effect which takes least time ?
@Abhisar Well, again, this is a poorly worded question. If you aspirated vomit the very first time you were drinking you could cause permanent damage. I would go with amnesia honestly, because it says "leads to" not "increases risk of". Still, I don't like the answer all that much.
@mrdoldum may be it is a poorly worded question but that's the reason i opted amnesia because it is the only direct and immediate consequence of alcoholism. All the other options require prolonged alcohol consumption. Alcohol is indeed a class 1 carcinogen but if u will research then u will find that only 3.5% or so cases of cancer are alcohol related. Also lung damage by alcohol is not obvious and requires prolonged alcohol consumption too
@Abhisar I agree with you, but lung damage doesn't require prolonged alcoholism. As I said, you could breathe in your vomit or even the alcohol itself and damage your lungs. That seems a ridiculous thing though, to be the answer that is, because it requires such a specific series of events. Amnesia just requires drinking.
MAN....alcoholism means drinking alcoholic beverages in GENERAL ;)
@mrdoldum
@Abhisar No, alcoholism means that you are physically and mentally addicted. A person who simply cannot miss a glass of wine at night is just as addicted as some one that drinks multiple bottles of wine a day. Though one is obviously going to have much worse health consequences. And, as you said, the amnesia one is the only one that alcohol can cause directly, simply by ingestion.
Yes buddy i meant compulsive and uncontrolled consumption of alcoholic beverages. I wanted to put stress on the term DRINKING rather than INHALING alcohol @mrdoldum
@Abhisar Well, you never know, there is a famous, perhaps infamous, video of some british guy deciding he was going to do a "flaming eye" shot. Pumped himself up, let his shot glass on fire, and tried hold it against his eye. Don't ask me why. Well, as I am sure you predicted, he just lit his face, hair, and chest on fire.
Ha HA hA hA.....Funny moron ! ANyways thnx for the beautiful convo @mrdoldum !
@Abhisar Ok, last thing on this topic, I swear, but you might be interested: http://www.forbes.com/sites/robertglatter/2013/06/21/the-dangers-of-smoking-alcohol/
