Which microscope would be MOST useful for examining the contours of the surface of a bacteria cell? A)compound light microscope B)binocular stereomicroscope C)scanning electron microscope D)transmission electron microscope

OpenStudy (shreehari499):

Hi! @IHaveSeenStuff ! Yeah, surely scanning electron microscopeis most useful for examining the contours of the surface of a bacteria cell..:)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Thanks :3

OpenStudy (shreehari499):

An SEM can achieve resolution better than 1 nanometer..:)

OpenStudy (shreehari499):

Anytime!

OpenStudy (abhisar):

@shreehari499 why not TEM?

OpenStudy (shreehari499):

A TEM can only find objects greater than 10nm and compared to an SEM its resolution power is less..:)

OpenStudy (abhisar):

Dear @shreehari499 Pls chck the following link https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Microscopy#Electron_microscopy

OpenStudy (abhisar):

Now i think that TEM has more resolution power than SEM

OpenStudy (abhisar):

Still the answer will be SEM because it is more capable of visualising details on the surfaces of specimen

OpenStudy (shreehari499):

I had studied tht a long ago..wait let me see that link..

OpenStudy (shreehari499):

Yeah u r rite TEM has more resolution power that SEM but since the size of a bacteria is about 10nm, its quite easier to visualize it in an SEM that a TEM that has more resolution power..Thanks 4 correcting me..:)

OpenStudy (abhisar):

Mention not dude! Even i learnt a new thing
