It was the nickname for the military strategy that the Germans used in WW2 using concentrated formations of mobile armor, infantry, and air power to quickly destroy and confuse enemy formations. Back then, mobile armored warfare backed with air power was a very new strategy that the Germans happened to be good at resulting in relatively quick battles.
