Find a quadratic function to model the values in the table. Predict the value of y for x = 6. x | y 1 2 0 2 3 -10

OpenStudy (anonymous):

First you need to find the equation, so use slope formula to find it.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

How would i use it on this problem? i thought it was supposed to be used with two given points? So I'm a bit confused.. @xjakester

OpenStudy (anonymous):

y = ax^2 + bx + c, you're give 3 points. Plug them in and you have a system of three equations with three unknown variables a,b, and c. Solve it.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

*you're given...*

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I know how to work it from there. but I get lost, so do you mind guiding me through it?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

To my understanding i know that c=2 since its the y intercept. and i know I'm supposed to find the change in the y-values and then find the change in the change of the y-values from there on?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

plug the other two points in and and see what you'll have

OpenStudy (anonymous):

from the y values? @niko

OpenStudy (anonymous):

x = 1, y = 2, and c = 2, plug those in y = ax^2 + bx + c

OpenStudy (anonymous):

do the same with the last point
