Which of the following describes the main reason the Spanish conquistadors needed Native American slaves? They needed help to find gold and send it back to Spain. The Native American slaves aided them with their tobacco crops. The Spanish wanted to convert the Native Americans to Catholicism. They needed the Native Americans to make the Spanish Armada strong.

The first answer is probably closest. But conquistadors weren't mining or really looking for gold. They found plenty in royal treasuries, jewelry and decorations. They didn't have enough manpower to steal it all, so they forced their victims to load up the get away car. er, galleon, I mean
