AB is tangent to circle O at B. The diagram is not drawn to scale. If AB=7 and AO=17.4, what is the length of the radius (r)? Round the answer to the nearest tenth. (1 point) 18.8 15.9 12.2 10.4
The pythagorean theorem will help you find the missing side
Also this is a right triangle because line AB is tangent to the circle
|dw:1400473571124:dw|
\[A^2+B^2=C^2\]
Where C represents the hypotenuse
Plug in what you know and solve for what you do not
is it 10.4?
@Johnbc
May have been a small error in your calculations but very close, I came up with 10.04
thats not in the answers though the answers they gave me are 18.8 15.9 12.2 10.4
That is because the question you showed me is different to the question you mentioned in the mentioned question line AB = 7 and line AO = 17.4
Using those numbers I arrive at 15.9298462
oooooh sorry
That is fine as long as you understand how to do it so if you arrived at 10.4 you know how to do it with minor difficulty. Great job
thank you :) can you please help me with one more? im kinda failing this class. and this time i'll post the right one lol
@Johnbc
Perimeter of a triangle is just adding up all the sides so we must know all the sides to solve for perimeter
is it 64
|dw:1400474535327:dw|
oooooh 32
Im saying yes its 64 cause i just got the same thing you did @emilyboob
oh then i doubled opps
good job both you
