Tall pea plants are dominant over short pea plants. If there are 200 short plants in the F2 generation from a cross that followed Mendel’s methods, about how many plants will be tall in that generation? 200 300 600 1,000

OpenStudy (shrutipande9):

hey alydawn...umm do u know the phenotypic ratio obtained after crossing the f1 generation by mendel's method?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Nope. That's all the info that I was given in that question there.

OpenStudy (shrutipande9):

okay....so lets start from the beginning...take the parents TT and tt and cross them to get the f1 generation...can u do that for me?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Okay, so everything in the f1 generation has the genotype Tt.

OpenStudy (shrutipande9):

great....now cross Tt with Tt

OpenStudy (anonymous):

So then there's TT, Tt, Tt, and tt.

OpenStudy (shrutipande9):

great..:D now out of these how many would result into tall plants?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

3

OpenStudy (shrutipande9):

so 1 would be short...so the ratio is 3:1 right? so if u have 200 short...then 3 times 200 would be tall..:D

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Ohhh okay, so 600. Thank you! (:

OpenStudy (shrutipande9):

u did it all...:D u r good at genetics..well done..:D
