Geometry question...Putting up attachment...

OpenStudy (kamibug):

Please explain the steps. I'm in extreme need of review. Thank you! =)

hartnn (hartnn):

in the triangle helicopter- G - Zoo you need the ADJACENT SIDE of 60 degree angle, which is G- Zoo and you have OPPOSITE side of 60 degree angle, which is 300sqrt 3 so, can you tell me which ration you can use here ?? which ratio deals with opposite side and adjacent side ??

OpenStudy (kamibug):

I would use the tangent ratio? In this case,... tan60= 300sqrt3 / G-Zoo ?

hartnn (hartnn):

thats absolutely correct! :)

OpenStudy (kamibug):

Alright, but the question is asking for the distance between the zoo and the library.

OpenStudy (kamibug):

According to the lesson, this should have something to do with angles of elevation and depression. :-/

hartnn (hartnn):

sorry for late reply now to get distance zoo-library, we only need G-Library because Zoo- library = G- Library - G-Zoo in the triangle helicopter- G - Library you need the ADJACENT SIDE of 60 degree angle, which is G- Library and you have OPPOSITE side of 60 degree angle, which is 300sqrt 3 again use tan to find G-Library

OpenStudy (kamibug):

Thank you! =) I think I get it now. I can find GL by using the tan30 ratio and then find GZ by using the tan60 ratio. After I have the two sides I'll just subtract GZ from GL. Correct? :)

hartnn (hartnn):

very correct :)
