Question of fluid mechanics: why gauge pressure instead of absolute pressure is used in calculation of questions concerning linear momentum of a controlled volume?

Gauge pressure directly says how pressure of our system is varying with atmospheric pressure.

Because the atmospheric pressure is the same at the locations of fluid moving in and out of the controlled volume.
