What is the sum of the series?

@ganeshie8 can you please help me with this? I would really appreciate it!!

ganeshie8 (ganeshie8):

since | -1/2| is less than 1, this series converges so u can find the infinite sum

ganeshie8 (ganeshie8):

infinite sum = \(\dfrac{a}{1-r}\)

ganeshie8 (ganeshie8):

\(a\) = first term = \(-4\) \(r\) = common ratio = \(-\frac{1}{2}\) plugin

OpenStudy (anonymous):

are a and r -4 and -1/2? I'm really confused, I don't get this at all...

OpenStudy (anonymous):

oh ok! -4/1 - (-1/2) -4/(3/2) = -2 2/3 so is -2 2/3 the sum?

ganeshie8 (ganeshie8):

Yep !

Got it! Thank you so much!
