I am asking for help on a pre-calculus story problem: The cable of a suspension bridge hangs in the form of a parabola following the function y=x^2-2x-8 If the cables are supported from pillars that are 300ft. apart and 1000ft. high, how close does the cable come to the ground?(assume the x and y axes are scaled equally)
