Has anyone ever read: The Chrysalids by John Wyndham ?? I need help with finding examples from the novel on the following themes: 1.Prejudice/Hypocrisy 2.The threat of nuclear war 3.Conflict between the older and younger generation 4.The essence of life is change

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Have you read the book yet? Not trying to sound like a smarty pants. But, it really helps when you do and looking up the book it actually sounds like a fun read. As you read I'm pretty sure you'll get those examples easily.

OpenStudy (shelby1290):

@EnvyLeague yes i have read the book and finished it

OpenStudy (shelby1290):

i just can't think of examples

OpenStudy (shelby1290):

well a lot of them

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Hmm... maybe it would help if you choose your best answer. What you think may be correct. Sometimes you have to do that. I've read this book and had to write a three page essay on it last year even though I didn't really know how to put what I had read into words I still wrote what I felt was the best answer I could give...

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Even though I got a C *cringe* I totally learned from my mistakes.

OpenStudy (shelby1290):

true

OpenStudy (shelby1290):

okay well for prejudice/hypocrisy i came up with waknuk allows the great horses to be bred and used

OpenStudy (shelby1290):

...what else is there?

OpenStudy (shelby1290):

@EnvyLeague

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Ohh that was actually really good. 0.o Next is 'the threat of nuclear war'. I'll try to help with that one.

OpenStudy (shelby1290):

lol thats all i came up with..in like 2 hours though haha and i still have 17 more points to go

OpenStudy (shelby1290):

for the threat of nuclear war there are 4 points but i only found 3

OpenStudy (shelby1290):

tribulation, old jacob's prediction and the descriptive condition of the badlands

OpenStudy (shelby1290):

any ideas of what i can add to both of those themes?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

"The bank, coming around in a wide curve, and then running straight as an arrow to the distant hills' They are talking about the impact area of the missile, bomb, crater. Does that count as an example?

OpenStudy (shelby1290):

i think my teacher is looking for something a bit more general

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Ah... I see. and I'll try to think up some more ideas. Sorry I'm no help at all!

OpenStudy (shelby1290):

lol alright i'll wait for you to think of ideas :)

OpenStudy (shelby1290):

@EnvyLeague can nicholsons repentences be part of the threat of nuclear war

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Hmm i don't know. Isn't that like the book that the people of Waknuk treat like the bible. It basically states a bunch of different guidelines for them to follow?

OpenStudy (shelby1290):

yea

OpenStudy (shelby1290):

idk i just made a guess

OpenStudy (shelby1290):

have you thought of anything for hypocrisy? @EnvyLeague

OpenStudy (shelby1290):

i was thinking of how christians are supposed to act christ-like but instead they burn deviations and arent accepting at all

OpenStudy (anonymous):

shelby!!!!! I like that! That's perfect!!!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Lol

OpenStudy (shelby1290):

lool yay!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

XD That was better than all my examples!

OpenStudy (shelby1290):

lol

OpenStudy (shelby1290):

you're still very smart

OpenStudy (shelby1290):

im just unsure about what my teacher wants

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Ohhh! Thank you. But I think you've outsmarted me on this. :D & I know how you feel. Sometimes teachers can be painfully confusing.

OpenStudy (shelby1290):

hahaha exactly

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Right. Not trying to sound like an dedicated student but, that's why sometimes I just do my best guess (which is usually wrong) and I just learn from my mistake. Like I had said before.

OpenStudy (shelby1290):

yea sometimes i do that too. i just gather all that i've learned into one big guess

OpenStudy (shelby1290):

but with this assignment its due..today...and i have to wake up for school in like 3 hours

OpenStudy (shelby1290):

i honestly have the most sucky time management skills in the universe

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Same here! :/ Sorry I couldn't help as much. I tried my best and usually questions such as these will take someone hours to respond back too.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I'm speaking out of experience.

OpenStudy (shelby1290):

mhm i understand. i try to just quickly guess things and write them down

OpenStudy (shelby1290):

I'll*

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Kay! Good luck!
