Describe the graph of the function. y = 9x^2 + 18x – 6 1.) The graph is a parabola with axis of symmetry at x = 1. 2.)The graph is a parabola with axis of symmetry at x = 9. 3.)The graph is a parabola with axis of symmetry at x = 6. 4.)The graph is a parabola with axis of symmetry at x = –1.

OpenStudy (sidsiddhartha):

this is a second degree equation so its a parabola now first thing: try to make a square

OpenStudy (anonymous):

A square?

OpenStudy (sidsiddhartha):

yeah like this \[y=9x ^{2}+18x-6\] \[y=9(x ^{2}+2x-\frac{ 2 }{ 3})\] \[y=9[(x+1)^{2}-5/3]\]

OpenStudy (sidsiddhartha):

now it is of the form y=A(x-h)^2+k, with (h.k) being the (x,y) coordinates of the vertex.

OpenStudy (sidsiddhartha):

axis of symmetry: x=A here A=9 so ur axis of symmetry is x=9 do u get it?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Yes I get it :)

OpenStudy (sidsiddhartha):

:)
