Solve the problem by writing an inequality. A club decides to sell T-shirts for $12 as a fund-raiser. It costs $20 plus $8 per T-shirt to make the T-shirts. Write and solve an equation to find how many T-shirts the club needs to make and sell in order to profit at least $100.

\[20 + 8x \ge100\]

OpenStudy (hba):

How would you go about doing this?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

hold on im typing the answers

OpenStudy (anonymous):

subtract 20 from each side of the equation \[20 - 20 + 8x \ge 100-20\] \[8x \ge 80\] now divide both sides of the equation by 8 so you can solve for x

OpenStudy (anonymous):

A. 12x - (8x+20) > 100; x > 30 B. 12x - 8x + 20 > 100; x > 20 C. (8x + 20) - 12x > 100; x> 20 D. 12x - 8 (x+20) > 100; x > 20 All the > have lines under them

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i was mentioned?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Do you know the answer?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i'll see if i can figure it out, hold on a sec

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so those are all greater than or equal to and less than or equal to signs?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i'll recheck A, give me a minute or two

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yea, i think its A too

OpenStudy (anonymous):

okay thanks yall

no problem
