Help, Math question I have no idea how to do it
First thing is first...scalar multiplication....we need to multiply that 2 into every number in that second matrix
so we have, after the multiplication, the new second matrix \[\left[\begin{matrix}4 & 5 \\ 0 & -1\end{matrix}\right] + \left[\begin{matrix}2 & 16 \\ -8 & -12\end{matrix}\right]\] Now to add them...we simply add the matching positions of each one... \[\left[\begin{matrix}\color \red{4} & \color \yellow{5} \\ \color \purple{0} & \color \orange{-1}\end{matrix}\right] + \left[\begin{matrix}\color \red{2} & \color \yellow{16} \\ \color \purple{-8} & \color \orange{-12}\end{matrix}\right]\] Add the colors We should have \[\left[\begin{matrix}6 & 21 \\ -8 & -13\end{matrix}\right]\]
