math

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i know theres 1 yard =91.44 cmso do i do 1.00*10^2/91.44

OpenStudy (wolf1728):

100 yards * (3 feet / yard) * (12 inches / foot) * (2.54 cm / inch) = 100 * 3 * 12 * 2.54 = 9,144 cm

OpenStudy (wolf1728):

Okay I'll make a graphic

OpenStudy (anonymous):

okay i got that one so far but instead of saying 9,144 i said 91.44 now do i divide 1.00*10^2 by 9,144?

OpenStudy (wolf1728):

Okay it is easier to see in a graphic

OpenStudy (anonymous):

oh i see now how you did this i'm not really sure why i thought i needed to divide that. i have another problem here let me see if i can do this one if not please show me the right way

OpenStudy (anonymous):

determine the number of meters in 1.00 miles

OpenStudy (wolf1728):

You should have EVERYTHING set up before the calculations are done and you don't say AFTER a conversion "and then remember to multiply by two". Anyway, I made the graphic to show you the proper way to set up a conversion problem. You understand how the 100 yards converts to 9,144 cm works correct? If you do I can set you up with the convert 1 mile to meters problem.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yes maybe set me up with the 1 mile to meters problem
