What would most likely happen to a unicellular organism if it was exposed to a hypotonic solution for an extended period of time?

Hypotonic solution has a lower concentration of solutes outside the cell than inside the cell. In an attempt to balance the concentrations of solutes inside and outside the cell, solvent will rush into the cell, causing it to swell and possibly burst !
