What impact did the printing press have on Germany and the world?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

1. The rate of illiteracy went down because now people could read for themselves. Before this time everything had to be handwritten so not very many people read books. 2. People could share their ideas with people in a better way. More people were able to thrive because of this.

There was a viable alternative to documents being written by hand. The manual process limited the range of books and certainly limited the availability of the written word to people. The printing press offered a dramatic increase in the speed of production and therefore a dramatic reduction in the cost of production. Hope this helps :P
