Why did eisenhower drop the atomic bomb on Japan

OpenStudy (anonymous):
United States of America dropped the atomic bomb in order to minimize their death toll. They figured it would be too costly to invade Japan via their navy. FYI, atomic bomb was dropped on Japan under President Truman, not Eisenhower.
