The figure shows a triangular piece of cloth. What is the length of the portion BC of the cloth? 7 cos 33° sin 33 degrees by 7 7 sin 33° cos 33 degrees by 7

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Using what you told me from the last problem I think that the answer is 7 cos 33°

@Johnbc

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Not exactly if you remember SOH CAH TOA then you know that cos would be \[Cos \angle = Adjacent/Hypotenuse\]

OpenStudy (anonymous):

If we use the angle 33 we want to solve the side opposite of that and we only have the hypotenuse

OpenStudy (anonymous):

So the adjacent side would not work in this example

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Ohh. Then it would be 7 sin 33° because sine is opposite/hypotenuse right?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Correct! Great Job

Yes. Thank you!
