For the following research questions, create one null hypothesis (N), one directional research hypothesis (D), and one nondirectional research hypothesis (ND). Clearly indicate each of them.
a. What are the effects of attention on out-of-seat classroom behavior? N: There is no relationship between attention and out-of-seat classroom behavior. D: Attention is negatively (inversely) related to out-of-classroom bahvior. ND: There is a relationship between attention and out-of-classroom behavior. b. @campbell_st
@ganeshie8 can you help please? I know I'm prob driving you insane
@skullpatrol
@kirbykirby please:)
looks like you have the answer
I answer the first 2... I'm not sure if 3 is write, because I don't know how to write hypothesis for questions
So I'm stuck on c,d,e
c) doesnt look right
for c) why dont you try, to treat an eating disorder we give therapy for the patient. and then we use the null hypothesis that therapy does not do anything for eating disorder (no improvement)
Can you show me how to write hypothesis when there is a question not a statement
well the standard ways to treat eating disorder, what are they? therapy, medication, and i think forced feeding
forced feeding isnt really a practical solution, thats a desperate measure. so you have between therapy and medication
N: There is no relationship in treating an eating disorder by therapy. D: Therapy has a postive effect on eating disorders. ND: There is a relationship between therapy and eating disorders Are those correct?
correct
or you would say, there is no relationship between an eating disorder and attending therapy (no change upon therapy)
for which?
the null?
yes, for part c) , i was just rewording it
i was just being pedantic :P , nevermind
Ah ok.. I'm going to try and do D and E... could you check them?
ok
also note there is probably more than one right answer to these
Great thank you... I'm still trying to get the hang of this stuff lol
d. How are gender, family background and juvenile delinquency related? N: There is no relationship between gender, family background, and juvenile delinquency. D: Gender and family background have a negative effect on juvenile delinquency. ND: There is a positive relationship between gender, family background, and juvenile delinquency.
e. What are the effects of media violence on violent behavior? N: There is no relationship between media violence and violent behavior. D: Violence in the media has a negative effect on violent behavior ND: There is a positive relationship between media violence and violent behavior.
@perl there is my D and E
Are those correct?
i think D has to be more specific
Like how?
well maybe not, i was thinking you should specify what gender and what family background. but for ND i think it should say, there is an association between gender, family background and juvenile delinquency
ND is either positive or negative association
Ok.. was my E correct?
you should specify what you mean by 'negative effect'
N: There is no relationship between media violence and violent behavior. D: Violence in the media is associated with increased violent behavior
Thank you :)
