OpenStudy (alekos):

have you attempted this one?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i don't understand how to set it up i know it uses Pythagorean theorem, but i'm just not sure of how it works with a problem like this.

OpenStudy (alekos):

its quite tricky because it requires multiple uses of pythagoras plus some algebra

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Could you explain using the problem? or an example of the problem maybe?

OpenStudy (alekos):

firstly some nomenclature... lets call AC = a, AD = b and CD = c happy with that?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

but what do i do with the 16 across the bottom?

OpenStudy (alekos):

we start like this.......... a^2 + 10^2 = 16^2 so a^2 = 156 happy with that?
