explain how the genetic information on DNA determines a particular characteristic (e.g: eye colour) and the different forms (traits) of the characteristic (e.g: blues eyes and brown eyes) PLEASE GIVE ME ANSWERS. IT'S URGENT
........ @shreehari499
are u in a test ?
No it's homework but it's night time, getting very late and im tired. have to hand it in first thing tomorrow morning
ohkay..lets c then
The function of DNA is to provide the information needed to make molecules called proteins in cells. These proteins impart different types of traits
yes, pls do continue
The information in DNA is held in the sequence of the repeating units along the DNA chain. These units are four types of nucleotides (A,T,G and C) and the sequence of nucleotides stores information in an alphabet called the genetic code.
When a gene is read by a cell the DNA sequence is copied into a very similar molecule called RNA (this process is called transcription). Transcription is controlled by other DNA sequences (such as promoters), which show a cell where genes are, and control how often they are copied. The RNA copy made from a gene is then fed through a structure called a ribosome, which translates the sequence of nucleotides in the RNA into the correct sequence of amino acids and joins these amino acids together to make a complete protein chain. The new protein then folds up into its active form. The process of moving information from the language of RNA into the language of amino acids is called translation.
KINDLY INTERJECT WHEREVER U HAV A DOUBT
Finally these protein impart the respective phenotype
Thank you sooooooooooo much!! taken a huge load off my back. if i didnt get help, wouldnt have been allowed in class tomorrow morning :) ty
Thats great !!! Hope u hav lots of fun and learn new things tomorrow in the class ! :)
and make sure u learn properly these facts :D :P
yes lol genetics is my weak spot in science :) well goodnight from me as i'm relaxed and off to sleep
It's 3:30 pm here :P , anyways have a peaceful night !
Oh yeah..well done @Abhisar ! @DeepaLittle..Please close this qn if you've got ur correct answer..Happy Open Studying!
