I do not think it is A because succession in ecology is the process by which a plant or animal community successively gives way to another until a stable climax is reached.

It might be B, speciation.  Speciation is when the formation of new and distinct species in the course of evolution.

I am not sure if ti could be C, but I don't think so.  Natural selection is the process whereby organisms better adapted to their environment tend to survive and produce more offspring. The theory of its action was first fully expounded by Charles Darwin and is now believed to be the main process that brings about evolution.

It might also be D...spontaneous generation is the supposed production of living organisms from nonliving matter, as inferred from the apparent appearance of life in some supposedly sterile environments.
