OpenStudy (thefluffmuncher):

how do you characterize a parabola without graphing it?

OpenStudy (thefluffmuncher):

Equation: y = 2x2 + 5x – 3

OpenStudy (thefluffmuncher):

i am trying to find how many x interepts it has and where does it lie

OpenStudy (loser66):

ok, that is the quadratic, right? so the quadratic has the roots, right? set the right hand side =0 to solve for the roots, those are the x-intercept points

OpenStudy (thefluffmuncher):

yea it's the quadratic

OpenStudy (thefluffmuncher):

they gave me 4 graphs

OpenStudy (loser66):

there is a trick: if it is hard to you, just draw it out on the scrap paper (don't let your prof know) and name everything out hahaha

OpenStudy (loser66):

post the graph, I will show you how to figure out which one is the right one.

OpenStudy (loser66):

reject graph1

OpenStudy (loser66):

reject graph3

OpenStudy (loser66):

you see, right after seeing it, I can get 50% correct, hehehe, quite easy

OpenStudy (loser66):

want to know how?

OpenStudy (thefluffmuncher):

yea!

OpenStudy (thefluffmuncher):

yea

OpenStudy (thefluffmuncher):

yea ty
