I don't remember the actual steps of graphing equations like this, but I do know a website that can help you graph it: http://fooplot.com

Choose values for x and the function should give you values for y. So, in this case if you plug in 1 you should get -2. So (1,-2) is a point on the graph. Hope this helped mate.
