Please help, fan and medal!! A square television screen has a side length of 10 inches. What is the approximate length of the diagonal of the television screen? A:10 B:14 C:20 D:100

I keep getting 1.41 as my answer :/

OpenStudy (anonymous):

The diagonal of a square is found using the Pythagorean theorem. That means your answer is \[\sqrt{10^{2} + 10^{2}}\], which equals 14.14. So 14 is your answer.

Your decimal was just in the wrong place(:

Ohh lol!! Thank you so much!!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Yep! Just so you know, you use the Pythagorean theorem because a square is made up of 2 identical right triangles; that means the diagonal is the hypotenuse of both of those triangles.

Now I see where I messed up! :D

Haha good!
