what were two problems the US faces in the pacific theater of war?( please give a straight forward answer i don't have book on me and can't find it on google.)

Huge distance between the United States and the islands in the Pacific, also the way Japanese fought were different from the Germans. They did not surrender, rather they fought until the end,(kamikaze) making America's job much harder. Oh. Also the weather was really bad in the Pacific islands.
