Not used to factoring with the 4 there can you help me \[4y ^{2}+ 25y + 6\]

OpenStudy (anonymous):

is that how the problem is written?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@jtryon yes sir, its factoring trinomials

OpenStudy (anonymous):

OK, so we are going to set it up like so: ( ) ( )

OpenStudy (anonymous):

we want want to get 4y^2 for our first term... what do we plug in?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

for our middle terms we are looking for two numbers that multiply and add to equal 25

OpenStudy (anonymous):

make sense?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

hmm, i dont think 2 number multiply and add to 25

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so the outer and the inner will give you the middle term

OpenStudy (anonymous):

how do you get the 4y^2?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I literally have no idea, thats why I am asking you guys

OpenStudy (anonymous):

you would have (4y + n) (y + n) and you have to come up with the other numbers

OpenStudy (anonymous):

4y*y=4y^2
