Which describes an advantage of sexual reproduction? A. rapid growth of gametes B. more offspring produced at a faster rate C. offspring that are identical to parents D. genetic variation

OpenStudy (anonymous):

D ?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@shear1945 Another poorly worded question/answer. Advantage vs. what? Without a comparison there can be no advantage. Anyway the answer is D. But again, it should be INCREASED genetic variation as opposed to asexual reproduction.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Which statement best describes the process of asexual reproduction? A. A wormlike insect transforms into a ladybug after fertilizing an egg. B. A plant releases seeds into the air. C. A human baby is the result of a fertilized egg. D. A single-celled protist divides into two cells, and each one becomes another protist.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Again, D. A single cell makes a copy and there are two new cells without exchange of genetic material.

can you help wth 5 more questions

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Sure.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Why do two flowers of the same species have different color petals? A. exposure to sunlight B. photosynthesis C. expression of inherited trait D. expression of an acquired trait

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@shear1945 This one, I am really not sure about. Almost all of the answers are possible, but I think D is the most likely. Only B is nonsense, all of the others could and do occur in nature as reasons for differences.

it was D In a plant, roots absorb water and nutrients. Those materials are then transported to other parts of the plant. Which statements describe the system in an animal that functions in a similar way? Choose all answers that are correct. A. The water in a plant's system functions like the blood in an animal's body, moving needed nutrients throughout the organism. B. The circulatory system is responsible for transporting materials throughout the animal's body. C. The water in a plant's system functions like the hormones in an animal's body, and hormones move nutrients throughout the animal's body. D. The endocrine system is responsible for transporting materials throughout the animal's body.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

We went over this a bit ago. The circulatory system.

Which best explains what would happen to the muscular system if the digestive system broke down? A. No carbon dioxide would be available to the cells, and the organism would die. B. No energy would be available to the cells, and the organism would not be able to move. C. Oxygen would not be removed, and the muscles would not be able to move. D. An increase in wastes would be sent to each cell, and they would become infected.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

After a sufficiently long time, B.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Increase in waste is unlikely to cause infection on its own.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Either way, it would take way longer for that to happen then for energy exhaustion.
