Please help!!!! A triangular prism has vertices at A(2, 0, 0), B(2, 1, 3), C(2, 2, 0), D(0, 0, 0), E(0, 1, 3), and F(0,2, 0). Which image point has the coordinates (1, 4, 3) after a translation using the vector (1, 2, 3)?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Translation using the vector (1, 2, 3) means add 1, 2 and 3 respectively to the x, y and z coordinates of a point to get (1, 4, 3). Does that help?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Um what? Sorry

OpenStudy (anonymous):

would it be like (0, 2, 0) or something?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Do this: 1) Take any vertex of the prism, say (2, 0, 0) 2) Add the vector (1, 2, 3) to get, for example (2+1, 0+2, 0+3) = (3, 2, 3) 3) Did you get (1, 4, 3) ? If not, then repeat the above steps for the other vertices of the prism until you get (1, 4, 3) for a vertex. That would be your answer.

So it would be F : (0,2,0) ?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Right!

Thank you!!!

Glad to help :)
