what does ms^-1 mean in terms of velocity? Its a unit...but why the -1

\[Example: 2ms ^{-1}\]

It's the same thing as 2 meters per second. The -1 exponent just means divide. So if you have x^3/x then obviously you have x^2 right since one divided out? All that's going on is the exponent rules allow us to rewrite it like that.
