Ill Medaaaaalllll!!! How many solutions does the system of equations have? http://lv.k12.com/mediaFiles/Ninth_Grade/Math/Unit17526/Lesson68681/VHS_PA_S2_02_L312_Q1.gif A. The system has exactly one solution. B. The system has infinitely many solutions. C. The system has no solution.

OpenStudy (texaschic101):

4x + 4y = 8 -- divide everything by 4 x + y = 2 this is the same as the other equation, therefore, the line are coincident (same line)...meaning they have INFINITE SOLUTIONS

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Can you explain how to read these equations?

OpenStudy (texaschic101):

well....if a line can reduce...reduce it. If it matches the other equation exactly, it has infinite solutions. if the lines have the same slope, but different y intercepts, then the line is parallel and has no solutions. if the lines have different slopes and different y intercepts, then the line will have 1 solution.

OpenStudy (texaschic101):

does that help ?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Yeah :) Thanks

OpenStudy (texaschic101):

sure thing :)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

have you taken the unit 6 lesson 9 quiz?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@Saracox11 The number properties unit quiz? Yeah

OpenStudy (anonymous):

what grade are you in? im in 9th.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@Saracox11 Im in 7th

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ohh okay never mind

OpenStudy (anonymous):
