In your own words, explain a crucial piece of evidence that Ptolemy used to construct his explanation of the solar system.

OpenStudy (hugsnotughs):

I do not know what evidence Ptolemy used to construct his explanation, but I do know before the Scientific Revolution, astronomers believed in Ptolemy's geocentric view of the universe. This system taught that earth was at the center and all other heavenly bodies rotated around it.

OpenStudy (hugsnotughs):

I am doing some research right now of what might be the "crucial piece of evidence".

OpenStudy (hugsnotughs):

Okay, this is what I got: "People in earlier eras made the same observations. They watched the movement of the stars, the planets, and the sun, and they made the logical conclusion that these heavenly bodies were moving. Their religious beliefs further reinforced these ideas." So I am guessing religious beliefs or just using his eyes. cx

OpenStudy (hugsnotughs):

Oh wait, nevermind, I found this: "Ptolemy had to put in things called "epicycles" and other ideas, to make his system work."
