Compare each of the functions shown below:

OpenStudy (anonymous):

g(x) x y 0 0 π over 2 4 π 0 3π over 2 −4 2π 0 h(x) = sin(x − π) + 5

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Which function has the greatest rate of change on the interval from x = 0 to x = pi over 2?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@ganeshie8 ?

ganeshie8 (ganeshie8):

whats the change in y coordinate of g(x), as u go from x = 0 to x = pi/2 ?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

it goes up by 4?

ganeshie8 (ganeshie8):

yes ! what about the other functions ?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

The graph looks to go up to 2 for pi/2. Is that right? And don't know about h(x).

ganeshie8 (ganeshie8):

right !

ganeshie8 (ganeshie8):

h(x) = sin(x − π) + 5 the max rate of change for sin is 1, so this is harmless... you can conclude that f(x) has greater rate
