Which of the following functions has the greatest y-intercept?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

f(x) x y −3 −27 −2 8 −1 −1 0 0 1 1 2 8 g(x) = 4 sin(4x) − 3

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I think f(x)'s highest y-intercept is 8, but not sure w. g(x)

OpenStudy (amistre64):

let x=0, youll find the y intercept ...

OpenStudy (amistre64):

y intercept of f is not 8 .. the x=-2 intercept would be 8 :/

OpenStudy (anonymous):

4 sin (0) - 3? How do I find the highest y-intercept with g(x)? My bad, I looked in the y section and 8 was the greatest number. What would that be?

OpenStudy (amistre64):

... when x=0.

OpenStudy (amistre64):

and since sin0 = 0 that will leave us with g=-3 for its y intercept

OpenStudy (amistre64):

look at the table, when x=0, what is the value of y?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

0... so then g(x) has the greatest y-intercept?

OpenStudy (amistre64):

f(0) = 0 g(0) = -3 which is higher: 0 or -3?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Oops, sorry! I was thinking 3! lol f(x) is higher!

OpenStudy (amistre64):

:) correct
