10xto second power +6x-28

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Okay this is kind of simple? I would think but how exactly is this question? is it \[10x ^{2}+6x-28\]?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yes it is

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Okay so what have you tried in order to solve it? Have you tried anything and gotten stuck or are you really not sure how to solve this problem?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I have no examples of to solve this problelm

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Is this a multiple choice question? Maybe if I see your answers choices I can maybe make a clearer justification on the way you need to go

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I am not sure how to solve this problem

OpenStudy (anonymous):

2(5x-7) (x-4) 2(5x-7)(2x+2) (5x-7)(2x+4) (5x+7)(2x-4)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

These are your answer choices ?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yes

OpenStudy (anonymous):

okay now I can help you lol! I can finally get you somewhere. Okay so you see your equation right? Can you please find the GCF? (greatest common factor)?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Hold on some answer choices are kind of throwing me off. Give me one second so I can make sure im sending you down the correct path.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I have no idea how to do this problem

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Okay I figured it out! You know what the process of FOIL is correct?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I have not idea I haven't been in school in 30 years

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Okay FOIL is First, Outside, Inside, and Last. F= 5x times 2x which gets your first term of 10x^2 O and I kind of go together because when added together they get your middle term. O = 5x times 4 which is 20x I = -7 times 2x which is 14x. When these are added together you get your middle term of 6x. Finally L is the last terms which in this case is your -7 and your 4. When theses are multiplied you should get your last and final term of -28 This is because 7 * 4 is 28 and you have to keep the negative! So which answer matched how I've said this? That would be answer number 3 or C. I hope this helped (:

If you need anymore help understanding dont be afraid to ask (: @JaLyRo
