Density is a characteristic property of a pure substance because pure substances are defined as substances that are made of only one type of atom or molecule. So, density makes the pure substance substantial or miniature (measured by the quantity of mass per unit volume). So, in context of what I'm saying density makes the pure substance change size, and size is a characteristic property.

The last response is not correct. Characteristic properties are properties that are unique to different substances. Density is a characteristic property of pure substances. Density is one thing that can help to identify an unknown supstance and exclude other substances that have different densities. Other characteristics of pure substances are things like their melting points and boiling points.

To put it another way, different pure substances do not have the same density. Each has its own unique density, because it is a characteristic property of a substance.
