396 sales out of 1,200 sales calls. What was their percent success rate?

OpenStudy (imstuck):

You have to be able to translate the words into a mathematical equation of some type. Here they are looking for "what percent of 1200 is 396?" because that percent (which is what the question is actually asking for) multiplied by 1200 total calls will give you the success rate. The set-up of this equation would then be\[396=x(1200)\]The x is the percentage. 396 divided by 1200 gives you .33, but don't forget that when you are finding percents, which are based on 100, you need to multiply the .33 by 100 to get 33%. That is the success rate in percentage. Get that?
