A bag contains 2 blue and 3 green marbles. Two marbles are drawn at random with replacement. Which of the following gives the probability of drawing two blue marbles?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

what is replacement?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Replacing something/someone.

*duh >.<*

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Eh, the probability has a rations 2:3. But because it was replaced this would mean that the marbles were switched after you got the first to marbles. So, I would believe that 66% chance of getting 2 marbles. But, I might be wrong because I rushed.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yeah i the question is weird cuz the answer choices are

OpenStudy (anonymous):

A. 4/25 B. 9/25 C. 5/25 D. (9/25)(4/25)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Hm, that seems pretty weird. But still the fractions can be turned into ratios. But it seems these make no sense to me (and probably not to you, lol). So, you might need to simplify your answers to get a fraction at which you can get a ratio that is equivalent to 2:3 (ratio)

OpenStudy (solomonzelman):

if you still need to know, replacement would basically mean that if there was replacement than try1 doesn't impact try2, but if there was no replacement, then try1 does impact try2.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

since its 2/5 chance of getting blue and with replacement means well pick again wont the answer be (2/5)(2/5)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

which if 4/25

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Yes.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Haha thanks

OpenStudy (anonymous):

No problem
